after 40-50 years, original pedal arms are often worn-out  making for a sloppy accelerator pedal!
While the VW pedal assembly is certainly a basic  design - it is very functional when it all the parts are in good  shape. Unfortunately, after 40-50 years, many of them are worn  down even if the proper maintenance was done to the pedal  assembly. Luckily brand-new top quality components are now  available to get your assembly back in factory shape! This is  the pedal assembly arm that is used as the pivot for the  accelerator pedal. It holds the plastic roller that the pedal  pivots on to provide smooth acceleration. When worn out, the arm  will wobble which causes a sloppy pedal. These brand new  accelerator pedal arms are just as good as the original ones and  will help bring your pedal assembly back to factory-new shape!

Technical Notes:
VW changed their pedal assemblies on most of the models in 1966.  This arm is the later style for accelerator pedals that have a  ramp on the back for the plastic roller. If your accelerator  pedal is connected to the assembly with a metal bar and not the  plastic roller, this arm will not fit your VW.
