*Today I'll be listing a large lot of mouthpieces for all saxophones (sop., alto, tenor, and bari) and clarinet. These mouthpieces are being sold on behalf of a highly accomplished professional player who has all of his mouthpieces gone over by Brian Powell. Brian is one half of the duo known as "The Mouthpiece Guys". He is one of the most highly respected, and in demand re-facers in the business. The mouthpieces from this group have generally not been 'opened up', but rather 'touched up'/'perfected'. That is to say that they are at the same general specifications as they were originally made, however they have had minute adjustments performed to optimize their performance, as can only be accomplished by the hand facing of a skilled artisan. These pieces are all initialled "BP" by Brian, and have their tip openings indicated as well.
This listing is for an older Selmer Goldentone Bb tenor saxophone mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has a medium arch top chamber with undercut inner side walls. It is very much in the style of a Brilhart Ebolin/Tonalin, both in design, and tonally. The tip opening measures .078". For reference, that is just a hair smaller than a Selmer D. This mouthpiece is made of plastic.
This piece has been touched up/perfected by Brian Powell, as mentioned above. He did not open it up per se, but rather just perfected the facing while keeping it at roughly its original tip opening. He inscribed it lightly on the side with his initials, and the tip opening.
This mouthpiece is in excellent condition. The facing is perfectly smooth, and there are no tooth indentations on the beak. It is bright and shiny, with light ligature scratching on the exterior. It has been cleaned/sanitized, so it is ready to use.
