Selmer Model 26 Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece (Circa 1926) - Excellent Cond!!

Extremely rare Selmer Model 26 soprano saxophone mouthpiece in excellent, original condition!!!
This mouthpiece is a survivor!.... 95 years old as best I can tell. These were standard supply with the Selmer Model 26 soprano saxophone. This one is very well preserved - very little brown darkening of the hard rubber. The tip and rails do not appear to have been altered. No cracks, only a small scratch or two from a ligature. The logo is still clearly visible.

This mouthpiece plays fantastic! Large chamber (typical of the era) yields a beautiful, dark vintage tone. I've played many mouthpieces of the era (Martin, Buescher, Conn) and this one is by far the most playable. Great response from top to bottom. I tried it on my Martin Handcraft Bb soprano - wow, what a tone, awesome smooth and dark. Intonation was flawless. Then I tried it on my Martin Handcraft C Soprano (which is a very tough test for mouthpiece intonation and playability) - I was able to play top to bottom, even the top palm keys spoke easily, and in tune.
I have never tried a mouthpiece of this era that played well without a total refacing - this one is factory original and awesome right now!
