If you need for universal shifter knob then M12 x 1.25 is the choice.
If you bought a knob with 3 or 4 adapters (8mm, 10mm and 12mm) from China, Taiwan or elsewhere then select Logitech shifter knob adapter with M12 x 1.25 thread, it will be best choice and is strongest of all shifter knob threads.

1x 20 mm length adapter with M4 bolt
1x 30 mm length adapter with M4 bolt

You get 2 different thread lengths (20 and 30mm), this lets you choose higher or lower your shift knob you want
Example in the first photo is adapter of 30mm length
Installation:
Remove old original shifter knob from the adapter as explained in the photo.
Put new adapter with longer or shorter bolts depending depending longer or shorter shifter you want.
Installation tip:
if a shifter adapter moves a little together with the gear knob, to the sides.
Over tighten adapter holder bolt with
a little force
. Material is a little bit flexible so it won't break.
