Description
Hard Manufacturing Co. CPG 6-2006 Hospital CribFor sale- a Hard Manufacturing Company, Inc. Hospital Crib.
I guess that is the most apt description of it.
The only number I could find on it, CPG 6-2006, brings up nothing that I could find on the internet about it.
I would guess it is a model CPG-6 made in 2006 but that’s just a guess.
Based on the size of the mattress, which is in really nice condition, I would say that Hard considers this a 26x60” crib, even though the exterior dimensions including the bumpers is more like 35x65 and about 59” tall.
Although I would consider the overall physical condition to be fairly nice, this thing needs a bit of work and I don’t know if that would be something that could be done by someone other than a tech familiar with working on these.
The surplus info on the piece said the sides open and close.
They do not (thanks guys).
There is only a single handle/release mechanism included in the sale.
The long side that it was attached to could not be opened because one of the two release pieces is broken where it attaches to the handle thing.
So I switched the handle thing to the other side and was able to open it up.
Sometimes.
Sometimes not.
The crib offers manual adjustment of the mattress and those controls do appear to work.
Maybe it just needs some lubrication or a better understanding of how it works.
The bed itself has some places where the finish has taken a hit from something, but overall it looks great I think.
But I think it is going to require some work to be usable, as I think retrieving even a normal child from this would turn into a struggle at times and I can just imagine trying to fight with it in an emergency.
So I am selling it for parts or repair.
Maybe you have more patience than I do, but I am guessing most parents or caregivers would freak the first time it stuck in the up position and they needed to get to the child.
I did not try the handle/release on the head or foot of the bed, maybe they would work better but the crib is so long I don’t see that being a practical extraction point.
UPDATE: I have acquired a second Hard Crib which isn't in nearly as nice a condition as the one pictured. I believe it is the same size and at least one of the release handles on that one works. So I will be looking at the possibility of stripping parts off of the second one that could possibly be used to repair the red one pictured. The new one is also electrically actuated, and if they are the same size it may well be possible to swap out that platform in the two beds as well. Currently they are in two different warehouses so until such time as I can unite them a lot of this is just speculation.
UPDATE OF THE UPDATE: I have stripped the side rail release mechanisms out of the other crib, both the long and short sides, and none of those are broken. They are now included in the sale as well as two release handles so potentially you could put one of those on an end. So now you do not have to go scrounging for parts, I have already done that and should provide some backup as well. It does still need to be installed but if I do that too the price is going up. NOT included in the sale, I now also have the entire motorized bed adjustment base with controller available separately. That is tested and working.

I’m going to do something on this piece I have never done before.
Offer it for local pickup ONLY.
Sure, I could ship it, you just wouldn’t want to pay for it.
My regular carrier classes medical equipment as freight class 200, which automatically doubles the cost of shipping to my chagrin.
And the overall size of the thing is going to make it expensive to ship even if you can find a carrier that doesn’t put it in that high of a class.
65x35x59”H before any sort of packaging.
So you are looking at 700+ pounds in dimensional weight even if it isn’t nearly that heavy (and I have no idea how heavy it actually is).
It is stored in a warehouse in 23093 and could easily be loaded onto a small trailer or pickup truck (forklift available).
Alternatively, if I don’t have something else going on potentially I could deliver it within a limited radius, but contrary to popular opinion I do not work for free.
If you want to send in your own carrier to pick it up I am OK with that but all I am going to do is secure it to a pallet, I’m not crating something this size.
