Great early advertising item for Aetna Life Insurance Co., Hartford Connecticut. Celluloid Game Counter. Celluloid game counters or game markers were used in card games like Whist. Whist is a classic trick taking card game that was very popular in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Celluloid game counters were used to count points and games won. This piece measures 3 inches x 1.5 inches. The wheels/dials move smoothly. Numbers 0 to 9 on one side and by tens and hundreds on the other side. No breaks. Neat piece!!
