1947 Press Photo Dropping chopped corn to ducks on the farm of Alba Peloquin
This is an original press photo. Ducks - Dropping chopped corn to the ducks, who have sought sanctuary by the thousands on the farm of Alba Peloquin, near Jennings, is this small plane from the Zigler Flying Service, Jennings. The birds, attracted at first by "sweet water" and "red rice" on the farm, found the farm a safe spot when federal and state wild life guardians posted the farm as a "baited area." From contributions of sportsmen interested in encouraging the birds to raise large families in peace--and return for some sport --and funds supplied by the state department of wild life and fisheries, hundreds of pounds of chopped corn are being dropped in the area by low-flying planes to bolster the food supply. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 12-17-1947.
