    Description

GREAT ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY PRIMITIVE CARBON STEEL MEAT CLEAVER / HOG SPLITTER WITH WOODEN HANDLE GRIP THAT WAS PAINTED BLACK AT SOMETIME IN THE RECENT PAST ( PROBALLY TO KEEP GERM FREE AND CLEAN UP EASIER IN MY OPINION )
MAKER MARKED ON BLADE NEAR TOP CENTER BUT VERY HARD TO MAKE OUT EXCEPT FOR THE NUMBER 83  ( 1883 PERHAPS ?? )
MADE FROM A VERY THICK METAL THAT IS NEARLY 3/8" THICK
    ENTIRE MEASURES APPOX 15" X 2"
    WEIGHS APPOX ~ 3 LBS
    VERY FIRM AND SOLID THOUGHOUT
BLADE IS QUITE DULL AND WILL NEED SHARPENING IF YOU INTEND ON USING IT
